about

My dad, James Alexis, wrote the songs "Stranger in Your Soul" and "October Evening" and recorded them with his band the Dynamic Apollos in 1965. The original recordings can be found here: thedynamicapollos.bandcamp.com

These songs were almost lost to history, until my dad sent me a warped, deteriorating acetate (the only known artifact of the recordings, since the master tapes went missing long ago). The disc was unplayable, but luckily we found Mhastery Audio Restoration, who did some digital surgery to bring the songs back to life.

A few years ago my dad sent me his '62 Fender P-bass, the one he played on stage at the Star Club in Hamburg, Germany where the Beatles got their start. Ross played that same bass on these recordings. This bass has some stories:

We feel proud and privileged to take a stab at these songs and hope we did them justice. For good measure we also cover "I Fought the Angels" by the Delgados and our namesake, "the Wild Kindness", by the incomparable and sorely missed Silver Jews.
